SARS-COV-2
Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is a highly transmissible and pathogenic coronavirus that emerged in late 2019 and has caused a pandemic of acute respiratory disease, named ‘coronavirus disease 2019’ (COVID-19), which threatens human health and public safety. At the end of 2019, a novel coronavirus designated as SARS-CoV-2 emerged in the city of Wuhan, China, and caused an outbreak of unusual viral pneumonia. Being highly transmissible, this novel coronavirus disease, also known as coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), has spread fast all over the world
PHAGE THERAPY
Phage therapy is the clinical therapy use of bacteriphages to treat pathogenic bacterial infections. The advantage of this tecnhique is the reduced risk of bacterial resistance development, very commom during the antibiotic use, phages are much more specific than antibiotic and is harmless not only to the host organism but also to beneficial bacteria, antibiotic can destroy also healthy bacteria which is a very harmful side effect. ABOUT ME
My name is María Lamprecht, a molecular biologist, holding a PhD in Microbiology, a MAs in Motion Graphics and more than ten years of scientific research experience; since 2015 I combined my two passions, art and science, working as a Postdoc Researcher and doing freelance works as an artist. I have participated as an illustrator in several scientific books and I also have collaborated with Research Centers, Universities and Biotech Companies making illustrations, advertising videos, posters and designing other information materials
